Material selection
Use molding for complex profiles and endless rings; use die-cut silicone for flat, low-profile gasket shapes.
DRAWING-BASED CUSTOM PARTS
Non-standard silicone seals molded for complex grooves, circular rings and dust-control geometries that flat sheet cannot achieve.
Custom compression-molded silicone seals for durable environmental sealing, dust exclusion and temperature-resistant assemblies.
Molded silicone seals are used when the part needs a three-dimensional cross-section, continuous ring, retaining lip or integrated locating feature. Tooling creates repeatable geometry for assemblies that cannot be sealed effectively with a flat die-cut gasket.
Silicone gives molded parts excellent temperature flexibility and resistance to ozone, weathering and long-term environmental aging.
Typical values for reference only. Final material grade, tolerance and dimensional capability are confirmed after drawing review.

| Material | Primary strength | Selection focus | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| General-purpose silicone | Silicone gives molded parts excellent temperature flexibility and resistance to ozone, weathering and long-term environmental aging. | Use molding for complex profiles and endless rings; use die-cut silicone for flat, low-profile gasket shapes. | Round sealing rings, dust boots, connector seals, appliance covers, lighting housings, medical equipment and complex enclosure interfaces. |
| LSR | Elastic recovery, compression set, tear strength, dielectric behavior and temperature range depend on the silicone compound. | Use molding for complex profiles and endless rings; use die-cut silicone for flat, low-profile gasket shapes. | Round sealing rings, dust boots, connector seals, appliance covers, lighting housings, medical equipment and complex enclosure interfaces. |
| platinum-cured silicone | Elastic recovery, compression set, tear strength, dielectric behavior and temperature range depend on the silicone compound. | Use molding for complex profiles and endless rings; use die-cut silicone for flat, low-profile gasket shapes. | Round sealing rings, dust boots, connector seals, appliance covers, lighting housings, medical equipment and complex enclosure interfaces. |
PRODUCT EXAMPLES
CONVERTING OPTIONS
Tooling is justified when the section profile, repeatability or annual volume exceeds what die-cut sheet can provide.
DESIGN REVIEW
Practical points to include when selecting foam and preparing a drawing for review.
Use molding for complex profiles and endless rings; use die-cut silicone for flat, low-profile gasket shapes.
Use smooth radii, consistent wall sections and realistic draft where tooling allows; specify the mating groove and compression target.
Molded seals benefit from DFM review of parting lines, flash zones, venting and post-cure needs before tool release.
Tooling is justified when the section profile, repeatability or annual volume exceeds what die-cut sheet can provide.
Custom compression-molded silicone seals for durable environmental sealing, dust exclusion and temperature-resistant assemblies. The final specification is established around the drawing and operating requirements.
Low-volume simple flat gaskets where die cutting is more economical, petroleum fuel contact, or abrasive reciprocating seals.

For a precise custom molded silicone seals quotation, provide three-dimensional section, groove geometry, compression target, parting-line constraints and annual quantity.
Molding is preferred when the seal needs a three-dimensional profile, integral lip, complex cross-section or continuous ring.
Yes. Standard and custom colours, including translucent grades, can be selected with the compound.
Yes. Compression or injection molding needs a tool, which is reviewed against expected volume and required geometry.
Yes. Molded designs can add ribs, clips, grooves and alignment features for more reliable assembly.
Include three-dimensional section, groove geometry, compression target, parting-line constraints and annual quantity.
Yes. Tooling is justified when the section profile, repeatability or annual volume exceeds what die-cut sheet can provide. Delivery format, liner configuration and packaging are specified for the assembly workflow.
